Description

Deliciously sweet and tangy candied orange peels, perfect for snacking or as a garnish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large organic oranges
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Wash the oranges thoroughly to remove any wax.
  2. Cut off the tops and bottoms, then quarter each orange and remove the inner fruit, retaining only the peels.
  3. Boil the peels in a pot of water for 15 minutes to soften them, then drain.
  4. Return peels to the pot, adding equal parts sugar and water (1 cup each). Stir until coated.
  5. Simmer on low heat for about 45 minutes until the peels are translucent and glistening, stirring occasionally.
  6. Remove from syrup using tongs and place on parchment paper. While warm, sprinkle with granulated sugar.

Notes

  • For a different flavor, try using other citrus fruits such as lemons or grapefruit.
  • Store the candied peels in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
