Description

Delicious and easy ham and cheese puff pastry pinwheels, perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen, approximately 17 oz)
  • 8 oz sliced ham (preferably thinly sliced)
  • 8 oz sliced cheese (Swiss, cheddar, or your choice)
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • Freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional for an added flavor kick)
  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (optional for tanginess)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This ensures that the puff pastry will puff up perfectly and achieve that golden brown color.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to smooth out any creases. Aim for a rectangle of about 12×15 inches.
  3. Layer the thinly sliced ham evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Place the slices of cheese on top of the ham in a single layer.
  5. If using, spread the Dijon mustard evenly over the cheese for that added flavor kick.
  6. Sprinkle some freshly ground black pepper over the top to your liking.
  7. Starting from one edge, carefully roll the pastry tightly into a log.
  8. Once rolled, use a sharp knife to slice the log into 1-inch thick rounds. You should have about 12-15 pinwheels.
  9. Lay them cut side up on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  10. Brush the tops of the pinwheels with the beaten egg.
  11. Bake in your preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the pinwheels are puffed up and golden brown.
  12. Once baked, remove from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • These pinwheels can be served warm or at room temperature.
  • You can add other ingredients like spinach or different cheeses to customize the recipe.
