M&M’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

Description

Delicious chocolate chip cookies made with brown butter and colorful M&M’s.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 large whole eggs
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 15 ounces red and green M&M’s (divided)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking soda and salt.
  2. In medium saucepan, set over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Stir frequently until it goes from pale yellow to deep golden brown. Remove from heat.
  3. Whisk in the water. Allow the brown butter to cool for about 10 minutes.
  4. Whisk in the sugars, then add the eggs and vanilla. Pour into the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  5. Fold in 10 ounces of M&M’s. Reserve 5 ounces to pack on the dough balls before baking.
  6. Chill the cookie dough in the fridge for 1 hour.
  7. Preheat oven to 350F. Scoop out 1 1/2 tablespoon balls of dough, roll and pack with reserved M&M’s. Place them onto a parchment-lined baking sheet spaced 4 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 8 minutes. Remove to shape if desired, then bake for an additional 3 to 4 minutes until edges are golden brown.

Notes

  • Make sure the butter is allowed to cool before adding M&M’s to prevent them from melting.
  • You can adjust the quantity of M&M’s as preferred on the dough balls.
