Description
Delicious chocolate chip cookies made with brown butter and colorful M&M’s.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 teaspoons water
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 2 large whole eggs
- 1 large egg yolk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 15 ounces red and green M&M’s (divided)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking soda and salt.
- In medium saucepan, set over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Stir frequently until it goes from pale yellow to deep golden brown. Remove from heat.
- Whisk in the water. Allow the brown butter to cool for about 10 minutes.
- Whisk in the sugars, then add the eggs and vanilla. Pour into the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
- Fold in 10 ounces of M&M’s. Reserve 5 ounces to pack on the dough balls before baking.
- Chill the cookie dough in the fridge for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350F. Scoop out 1 1/2 tablespoon balls of dough, roll and pack with reserved M&M’s. Place them onto a parchment-lined baking sheet spaced 4 inches apart.
- Bake for 8 minutes. Remove to shape if desired, then bake for an additional 3 to 4 minutes until edges are golden brown.
Notes
- Make sure the butter is allowed to cool before adding M&M’s to prevent them from melting.
- You can adjust the quantity of M&M’s as preferred on the dough balls.
