- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup whole milk
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 cups mini chocolate chips, divided
- 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
- Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
- In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and creamy. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Add the flour and salt to the bowl, stirring until just combined. Gradually blend in the milk to form a smooth dough.
- Mix in the powdered sugar followed by 1 cup of mini chocolate chips.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, combine sweetened condensed milk and remaining 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips. Stir constantly until chips are melted and mixture is smooth. Remove from heat and let cool briefly.
- Fold the chocolate mixture into the dough until thoroughly combined. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared pan.
- Chill for at least 2 hours until set before cutting into pieces.
Notes
- Chilling the bars helps them to set properly and makes cutting easier.
- These bars can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
