Description

Delicious filled donuts with a creamy milk filling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • ¾ cup warm milk (not hot)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Neutral oil for frying (such as canola or sunflower oil)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Stir to blend. Add the warm milk, softened butter, and egg. Mix until a soft, sticky dough forms. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  2. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1 hours, or until doubled in size.
  3. Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a smooth ball and place them on a parchment-lined tray. Cover loosely and let them rise again for 30–40 minutes.
  4. In a deep pot or fryer, heat oil to 325°F (165°C). Gently lower the donuts into the oil, a few at a time, and fry for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels and let them cool.
  5. While the donuts cool, make the milk cream filling. In a chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream with condensed milk and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  6. Using a knife or chopstick, make a small hole in the side of each donut. Transfer the milk cream to a piping bag fitted with a round or star tip. Pipe generously into the center of each donut.
  7. Lightly dust the donuts with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • For the classic Korean look, let some of the cream peek out from the center.
