Description
A delicious homemade sweet and sour sauce perfect for chicken, tofu, or beef.
Ingredients

- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- 3 tbsp water
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (more or less, optional to taste)
Instructions
- Heat a pot on the stovetop over medium high heat. Add all ingredients EXCEPT the cornstarch and water.
- Once this starts to bubble, in a small dish whisk the cornstarch and water together until it is a smooth white mixture, pour this into the pot and stir for a few minutes so it thickens.
- Remove from heat and pour on top of chicken, tofu, beef, or cool and store in jars for later.
Notes
- This sauce can be made ahead and stored in jars for later use.
- Adjust the red pepper flakes to taste for desired spice level.
