Description

A delicious slow cooker peach butter made with fresh peaches and spices.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 pounds fresh peaches (chopped, with peels on)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a slow cooker, combine all ingredients. Stir well to coat the peaches with the sugar and spices.
  2. Place lid on slow cooker and cook on the low setting for 6-8 hours, until the contents have deepened in color and peaches are very soft, stirring occasionally.
  3. If necessary, leave the lid partially propped open during the last hour or so to allow more liquid to evaporate.
  4. Turn off slow cooker. If desired, use an immersion blender to blend the fruit butter until very smooth. For a chunkier fruit butter, you can use a potato masher or the back of a wooden spoon to mash the fruit.
  5. Transfer to jars and allow to cool completely.

  • This peach butter can be stored in jars in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
