Description
A delicious slow cooker peach butter made with fresh peaches and spices.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 pounds fresh peaches (chopped, with peels on)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- In a slow cooker, combine all ingredients. Stir well to coat the peaches with the sugar and spices.
- Place lid on slow cooker and cook on the low setting for 6-8 hours, until the contents have deepened in color and peaches are very soft, stirring occasionally.
- If necessary, leave the lid partially propped open during the last hour or so to allow more liquid to evaporate.
- Turn off slow cooker. If desired, use an immersion blender to blend the fruit butter until very smooth. For a chunkier fruit butter, you can use a potato masher or the back of a wooden spoon to mash the fruit.
- Transfer to jars and allow to cool completely.
Notes
- This peach butter can be stored in jars in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
